3 Tips on How To Have A Stress Free Wedding Morning

If you ask me, the morning of your wedding should be as memorable as the rest of your day. Memorable, that is, for the right reasons! It’s such an exciting time, full of anticipation, nerves and magic. And guess what? It doesn’t have to be stressful.

I’ve seen it all.

Broken dresses, stressed bridesmaids, a lost tooth (I’m serious), missing wedding underwear, family tensions, an unexpected tattoo artist, the celebrant wearing the same dress as the mother-of-the-bride and much more.

While you can’t control all these things, there are a few things you can do to make your wedding morning as relaxed and fun as possible. Here are my top 3 practical tips.

1 / Stay at one location

Sometimes a bridal prep room at a venue won’t be open until late (from 10am onwards), this often means that there isn’t enough time for hair and make-up unless you hire several hairstylists and make-up artists, which then means you have to change location half way through hair and make-up. This is often very stressful for all parties involved and you can’t just enjoy your morning. If you are in one place for the whole time this takes off a whole lot of pressure!

2/ give yourself more time than you think to put your dress on

You’ve waited months, maybe even years for this moment. Don’t rush it!

Please, please believe me when I tell you that over 80% of people misjudge how long this will take. Meaning that while everything else goes smoothly that morning, you can fall at the last hurdle by not allowing enough time to get into your dress. This means -

a) Your photographer has to leave to get to the church/venue, so you don’t have those photos of you getting into your dress and those beautiful pre-wedding portraits.

b) You’re a sweaty mess because you’ve only got 60 seconds to get the dress on and you’re stressing out. Your hair is getting frizzy and your make-up is melting under the pressure!

c) You miss out on a little time with your bridal crew, having a little drink and generally taking in the moment (and selfies!) - few people get this beautiful moment because they don’t leave enough time.

PRO TIP:

Get into your dress 1 HOUR before you leave or your registrar arrives.

Tell your bridal team to get dressed 20 minutes before this.

3/ make sure you eat

This sounds obvious perhaps, but many people don’t feel like eating if they are nevous. Surprisingly, eating will actually calm you down. I’ve seen brides who felt faint because they hadn’t eaten, and you don’t want this to be you!

Breakfast suggestions:

  • Granola and yoghurt

  • Scrambled egg on toast

  • Pastries

  • Fruit platters

  • Bacon Sandwishes (or veggie fake-on!)

  • Pancakes or waffles with various toppings

Leave some fruit or cereal bars out to snack on through out the morning - you’ll need it!
