How To Prep Your Hair for Styling

This is my quick 3 step guide on how to get the most out of your wedding or event hairstyling appointment. Remember….

This steps apply to those with straight-ish hair. If you have naturally curly hair and are wearing your natural curls I will create another post for this with different instructions.

Step 1 - wash

Wash you hair the night before your appointment if you have drier hair that doesn’t require washing every day. If you have an oilier hair type then wash the day of your appointment. Ensure you’re using quality shampoo and conditioner that is suitable for your hairtype.

Washing your hair twice to ensure your hair is super clean. Build up of oils and products weighs the hair down, this will ensure your hair is squeeky clean. Then use your condtioner once as usual.

STEP 2 - blowdry + products

Blowdry your hair with a round blowdry brush or paddle brush to the best of your ability. Blow dry in some firm hold mousse and pay special attention to smoothing frizzy visible hairlines. Make sure you blowdry the parting in the place you want it to sit - this is really important!

Ensure your hair is 100% dry for your appointment time.

STEP 3 - optional (but optimal)

This is optional, but ensures the hard work you just put into your blowdry stays in place if you did it the day before.

You can sleep in a silk headwrap/turban or wrap your hair in a satin or silk headscarf! You can also sleep on a silk/satin pillowcase.

This stops the cuticle getting ruffled so your hair is still smooth the next day.

You can get 20% off the headwrap once below at Look Fantastic LFTFFLAMINGOAMY
